Life after football: Tre Johnson

I ran across this article today about former Redskin Tre Johnson. We don’t often hear about pro players after their careers end, unless it is something negative. Johnson’s story is far from that.

I always understood that lineman were pretty smart, if not the smartest players on the field. Johnson, after obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees from Temple, is teaching history. In addition to working on getting his weight down, the Pro Bowler plans to begin classes in the fall, in pursuit of a doctorate in educational leadership.

Good article and well worth the read.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. It’s always good to hear about athletes who go into education. Donnie Warren worked at my high school after he retired from the NFL and he was always willing to help out the students, even if he didn’t know them well.
