“With God on Our Side”

I’ve spent the day catching up – on my email, on my blog readings, on sleep – after what has been a tremendously busy week. It has been interesting to read the perspectives of folks all over. But let me point you to one post in particular: “With God on Our Side, Redux.” The title … Continue reading »

Obama elected president

All of the major news outlets have declared Barack Obama the next president of the United States. Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.

Virginia will turn blue!

Just finished reviewing the numbers on the SBE website. Right this minute, Obama is leading by about 19,000 votes. Looking at what’s not in the numbers – Richmond, Roanoke, parts of Arlington, and Fairfax County – it’s pretty clear that Virginia has, for the first time in 44 years, voted for a Democrat for President.

Second presidential debate open thread

We are about 10 minutes away from the second presidential debate. I have no idea what new items we can expect tonight, if anything. Use this as an open thread.

Effects of McCain’s health care plan

On his website, Republican presidential candidate John McCain has laid out a health care plan that is supposed to give “access to health care for every American.” Note that it didn’t say that we would be able to afford the healthcare, only that we would have access to it. Earlier, I called the McCain plan … Continue reading »
