Taking out the trash

No, it’s not Friday afternoon. But it is Take Out the Trash Day, at least according to  LloydTheIdiot at Too Conservative. He has an interesting post about ten things we should throw out. His list is good – and already contains some of the items I would have listed, although in a slightly different order. … Continue reading »

American Idol results: James voted off

Rocker James was eliminated on American Idol Thursday night. The top three are Haley, Lauren and Scotty. Plans for Scotty’s homecoming are already underway.

American Idol results 03/31/11: two eliminated

Wednesday night saw the eleven contestants take on the music of Elton John. There were some really awesome performances – Casey actually sang “Your Song” better than EJ himself – and there were some that were not so awesome – Paul comes to mind, although his suit was pretty wild. My bottom three were the … Continue reading »

American Idol results 03/24/11

Wednesday night, the remaining 11 contestants took on the songs of Motown. Some of them did better than others but that doesn’t seem to matter to the voting public. In the bottom three were Thia, Stefano and Casey. Casey and not Paul? C’mon. Paul is a bad Rod Stewart imitator. And while I like Scotty, … Continue reading »

American Idol results 03/17/11

The performances Wednesday night were nothing to write home about. The theme was songs from the year of each contestant’s birth. No one hit it out of the park nor did anyone completely bomb. Heading into tonight’s results show, any one  of them could be voted off. The first to be added to the bottom … Continue reading »

American Idol Results 03/03/11

American Idol took a weird turn with its results show Thursday night. Based  on the voting Tuesday and Wednesday night, ten of the top 24 contestants were placed into the top 10. The remaining fourteen contestants were put into a wildcard round. The judges then selected six of the 14 for a final sing-off. From … Continue reading »

Monday this and that

Been one of those days Time for a few links. Seems the General Assembly managed to pass a budget yesterday.  The vote was, amazingly enough, unanimous. I’m not so sure what to think of that. I’d like to think it means that the negotiators actually compromised to do the best they could by the citizens … Continue reading »

And the winner is…

Lee DeWyze. My congratulations to him. Of course, we’ve not heard the last of runnerup Crystal Bowersox. It’s been a strange season on American Idol. I will not be surprised if the show doesn’t return for a 10th season. Not only was the crop of contestants fairly weak, it seems the whole idea – of … Continue reading »

Who will win American Idol?

The ninth season of American Idol comes to a close Wednesday night in a two-hour finale. Contestants Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox engaged in a three-song performance Tuesday night that demonstrated why they made it this far.

American Idol results 05/19/10: down to two

Tuesday night’s show featured two songs each by the remaining three contestants: one chosen by the contestant and the other chosen by the judges. This particular night of the competition is always interesting as the contestants pick songs they think are best for them and the judges do the same. Rarely do the two ever … Continue reading »

American Idol results 5/12/10: top 3

The top four contestants sang songs from the movies Wednesday night, with Jaime Foxx as the mentor. Although they had a lot to choose from, all of them chose really strange songs. Wednesday’s results show reminded us that the top three gets to visit their home. Joy. More fodder for filling airtime.
