My latest op-ed, title above, appeared in The Virginian-Pilot Wednesday. The General Assembly session starts soon and in this short session, I look at a few topics which will likely dominate the discussion – or, at least, the headlines.
When the General Assembly is in session, the emphasis is supposed to be on policy as opposed to politics. But, although I only alluded to it in this column, I expect this session to be more about politics than it ever has. In particular, all eyes will be on the new “independent voice” of LG Bill Bolling. With no political career at stake, will Bolling break ties in favor of commonsense policies, killing some of the ridiculous stuff that comes out of the House? I know I’ll be tuned in more often to watch 🙂
My column appears in The Virginian-Pilot on Wednesdays (unless something comes up, in which case it’s Thursdays). You can see the columns as they are published here, or navigate to them from the PilotOnline.com homepage by clicking on Opinion and then choosing my name at the bottom of the dropdown list. You can also see the columns by liking my Facebook page. Although my column appears weekly, I am not and have never been an employee of The Virginian-Pilot.Follow @vpaige
