MoveOn.org Drake ads – are they backfiring?

MoveOnlogo1.gif The Pilot’s editorial today discusses the latest ad from MoveOn.org regarding Thelma Drake. The ad, which can be viewed on the MoveOn.org website (Quicktime required), is the second of three planned. This ad attempts to draw a connection between Drake and lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

On the website is a pdf of the supporting documentation for the ad. Here is part of what is included:

SCRIPT:
Tom DeLay. Jack Abramoff. Dick Cheney. And
now Thelma Drake. Another Republican caught
red-handed.

BACKUP:
Thelma Drake, Tom DeLay, Jack Abramoff,
and Dick Cheney are all members of the
Republican Party.

Say what? Is that all they have? No wonder the Pilot opened the editorial with this:

Guilt by association enjoys an honored spot in the dirty-tricks bag of political operatives.

MoveOn does the cause of progressives no favors by running ads based on such flimsy evidence.

  1. I honestly wish MoveOn would stay the hell out of this and let Phil Kellam and his staff take care of Thelma.

  2. MoveOn… ugh. Wonder if they’ll release poll numbers showing how their ads hurt Kellam this time?
