After our podcast last week, the participants (Jim Hoeft, Brian Kirwin, Shaun Kenney, Mike Baxter and I) made our picks for the games this week:
Vivian picks New England, Indianapolis, Chicago and Philadelphia
Brian takes New England, Baltimore, Chicago and HIS EAGLES!
Mike does not watch football, but thinks that this might be the week that the Blackhawks and Flyers break out of their slumps.
Shaun thinks that San Diego, Baltimore, Seattle and Jeff Garcia win.
And Jim goes with San Diego, Baltimore, Chicago and Philadelphia.
The results: New England, Indianapolis, Chicago and New Orleans. That means:
- Me 3-1
- Brian 2-2
- Jim 1-3
- Shaun 0-4
If I hadn’t let Brian’s enthusiasm for his Eagles affect my choice, I’d have been 4-0. No problem – I still did better than they did
Vivian…don’t let those boys affect your pics next time….buzz….

Posted by Shaun Kenney | Sunday, January 14, 2007, 10:07 pmWay to go Vivian! Tough call on the Eagles game.
So what are the predictions through this next set of games?
Posted by JPTERP | Sunday, January 14, 2007, 10:52 pmJPTERP –
Stay tuned for Thursday’s podcast for the next picks. I give Vivian all the credit in the world, so she better enjoy this week…cause it won’t last!
Posted by jphoeft | Sunday, January 14, 2007, 10:55 pmAs an Eagles fan, I am content with this season … especially since I initially wrote them off after the horrible Colts loss.
We were like the Redskins of 2005 – we did better than we should have, but for a while we were a team to be feared. I can live with that. We’re also still the team to beat in the NFC East next year, unless Gibbs fires a few coaches and makes the Redskins old school.
Now I will turn my attention to rooting for Payton Manning to finally achieve vengeance against the Patriots – this time it’s in his house.

If it wasn’t for that horrible referee, you would’ve been 4-0.
Calling a flimsy false start on a 4th and 10 in the closing minutes of a game that was so cheap that he didn’t even stop the play (which is what is supposed to happen on a real false start on the offense).
The NFL kicked in U2 and Green Day for the Saints home opener. You KNOW they want them in the Super Bowl.
Posted by Brian Kirwin | Monday, January 15, 2007, 5:17 pmI can’t believe Shaun picked Seattle over Chicago. Boneheaded call, my bro. Otherwise I matched Jim. Oof. Stoopid bird teams…
