So says the Virginian-Pilot. In a scathing editorial in today’s paper, the Pilot takes to task the energy sales tax holiday championed by Del. John Cosgrove (R-78th) (HB1678) which has sailed thru the House and Senate and now awaits the governor’s signature.
In short, the Chesapeake Republican has written a tax break that almost nobody will get, that doesn’t apply to the largest energy hog in your house and doesn’t actually encourage people to buy the most energy-efficient appliances. There’s a word for that: worthless.
Ouch.
Nor does that editorial benefit anyone. Del. Englin introduced legislation trying to make that sales tax holiday year-round. Think how fast VP would have dissed that idea. There is so much to write about when it comes to energy/environmental issues in Virginia right now and they pick this one bill. Ridiculous!
Unbelievable. Between this and the proposed Dominion energy re-regulation, it’s been a great year for big business so far in Richmond.
Eileen, a Pilot editorial writer did have a column against Dominion re-regulation today as well …

That Eads editorial appeared in VP already. That’s why I don’t understand there editorial today.
