According to this article, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson is looking into buying The Virginian Pilot. Funny – I don’t seem to recall this being on his list of predictions last week. Perhaps God only talks to him about the weather and politics, with a little violence thrown in for good measure.

Hey, if the Moonies could own the Washington Times….
I’m glad you both have a sense of humor about it; I don’t find this even remotely funny.
And, to me, it’s funny when an anonymous commenter says, “I don’t find this even remotely funny.”
By the way, the same bunch that owns the Washington Times is now trying to build a huge condo development along the northern bank of the James River in Richmond. But it has strong opposition from residents of Church Hill. If built, the view of the river from Libby Hill Park — considered by many to be the most spectacular in town — would apparently be blocked.
If they were concerned about their view of the river, why did they not buy the land between them and the river?
To me it’s just scary. Pat Robertson, media mogul is just frightening.
Pat Robertson IS a media mogul.
Yeah, but at least you can click over and watch a station that isn’t CBN. Does the Daily Press even deliver in Virginia Beach?
After all the years of us Libertarians and conservatives having borne the scorn and bias of the Pilot’s left wing editorial board, I can’t help but indulge in a bit of schadenfreude watching folks squirm in anticipation of a right wing slant taking its place.
Now, if you really want to do something, organize like minded people and make the Battens a better offer.
the va. pilot needs some cleaning up.
I worry about the employees. It’s not a good time to be in the newspaper business.
Wonder if the Daily Press will start delivering to Hampton Roads….regardless I betcha lots of folks cancel this paper if Robertson does buy it…..buzz…buzz….
You can assure that I’ll immediately cancel the subscription I’ve had for over 35 years. Pat needs to stick to his diamond mining… Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! Now what would Jesus do if he had an extra Five Billion Dollars to spend on buying a newspaper?
God help us if he buys the Pilot!
