It’s back!

American Idol Logo American Idol, that is. My winter entertainment. This season’s opening show is halfway over as I write this. The first stop on the Idol audition tour is Philadelphia. They have picked up a couple of really good singers. And suffered through some pretty horrible ones. Of course, these early shows are more about the latter than the former, but hey, that’s show biz 🙂

Gotta run. Show is back on 😉

  1. The show stumbled badly with Taylor Hicks – who by the way lost his contract the other day because he’s just not selling – I’d feel better about it if I didn’t get the sense that there’s cheating involved in that the show picks favorites and then pushes them onto the unsuspecting sheep we call the public. They’re so focused on starting controversies that they’ll throw aside a really decent singer for someone far more mediocre.

  2. I would once again take this as my cue to make fun of you and the rest of the American Idol fans…but with the writers’ strike putting most of the other good shows out of commission, I can’t really fault you. I watched half of American Gladiators the other night, so I have no room to talk this time around. 🙂

  3. Carla – I saw that info about Taylor Hicks. And, of course, one of his backup singers was among the auditions we heard last night. I have to say that while I think there is a whole lot of cheating going on (particularly in who ends up on the show at all), I watch it for pure entertainment value.

    anonymous – we’ll get you yet 😉

  4. The end was clever. They had that Princess Leah person complaining about the judges not valuing diversity while they showed clips of the great variety of people they did pick for the next round.

  5. Carla – how is selling 3/4 of a million CDs stumbling? Don’t let those AI SOB’s brainwash you.

Both J Records and Taylor have both confirmed that the split was a mutual decision. Taylor does not want to be a pop singer and is not. He’s a blues and soul artist and harmonica player. If AI would just let him be who he is, things would run more smoothly. He will record his next album on his own without constraints. Sounds pretty exciting to me.
