Denver-bound!

I’m exhausted but absolutely thrilled to have been elected as an at-large delegate to the Democratic National convention. My journey to become a delegate started about a year ago, when I decided that this was the convention that I wanted to attend. I just wanted to be a witness to history.

More on the convention later but for now, congrats to my fellow slate members who were also elected. On to Denver!

UPDATE: Here is Brian Moran’s speech from the convention

Congratulations, Vivian. Make sure and look for my photo spread on the convention.

It was great seeing you today, and we are so happy for you. You work hard, and you deserve this honor and fun important trip.

We are still here in W’burg, recovering. We will be going home in the morning after some shopping.

Thanks, all. I was in the Clinton caucus (natch :) ) and the Virginia Blue Slate was elected. That slate was:
    PLEO
    Rachel Rifkind
    Susan Rowland
    David Slutzky
    Jim Turpin
    At Large
    Charisse Glassman
    Irma Mitchell
    Dan Moldover
    Venkat Murthy
    Vivian Paige
    Walter Wise
    At Large Alternate
    Alison Umberger

We voted separately on the PLEO delegates and the At large delegates. The counting for the PLEO delegates went rather quickly as there were not many who filed for that. The At Large delegate counting took a bit of time, because the slate didn’t win outright and individual votes had to be counted. I’m told I was the top vote-getter among the female candidates. I think it must have had something to do with the Hillary buttons I handed out as we headed to the caucus :)

The Obama delegate voting was still going on when I left last night.

Vivian , congrats, I know when I last saw you yesterday afternoon, they were still counting. See you in Denver.

I have no idea who the Obama at large dlelegates are. I left at 6pm and they still didn’t know. The fact that they had TWO slates and one was only partial made it difficult to figure our who to vote for. We shall see.
