BREAKING: House Republicans introduce transportation plan

From an email I received just a bit ago:

Speaker Howell promised that the Republicans would put forth a transportation plan and I just got a copy of it this evening. I wanted to send it out to you all so you could get a chance to look it over before session tomorrow.

Here’s the video. Make sure you have the volume on your computer turned up.

  1. I always thought their brilliant plan was to give the shaft to Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads by giving them tax increases (HB3202), including imposing some taxes locally that have been proposed by Governor Kaine statewide (while the GOP rails against Kaine’s proposals).

As if those are the only areas that need transportation funding.

  2. I suspect that nothing productive will come out of this special session because there are those who want to take it on a detour rather than try to solve real problems. I just did a post on my own blog about Sen. Holtzman Vogel’s plans to introduce an amendment to the POA Act to help out a big developer in an active lawsuit. What’s the connection between transportation and the POA Act? There’s no need to wonder why nothing gets done if legislators focus on serving special interests.
