The Virginia Pilot is reporting that Will Sessoms, candidate for mayor in Virginia Beach, handed out fliers with his image and that of Barack Obama in certain areas Tuesday. Workers for mayoral candidate Will Sessoms passed out fliers Tuesday aimed at black voters that said, "Obama for President, Sessoms for Virginia Beach Mayor." Nye leading in VA-02
Democratic challenger Glenn Nye is leading incumbent Republican Thelma Drake. With nearly 63% of the vote counted, Nye has about a 3,500 vote lead. However, at this time, 56% of the precincts in Virginia Beach - which makes up about 70% of the district - are not in. Nye has done well, though, by winning … Continue reading Nye leading in VA-02
Obama elected president
All of the major news outlets have declared Barack Obama the next president of the United States.Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.
Race to watch: VA-05
The race in the 5th CD is the one to watch! As of this writing, incumbent Republican Virgil Goode is trailing Democratic challenger Tom Perriello by 550 votes. This would be a tremendous upset, one that few would have predicted. 301 of 307 precincts have reported. Wow!
Virginia will turn blue!
Just finished reviewing the numbers on the SBE website. Right this minute, Obama is leading by about 19,000 votes. Looking at what's not in the numbers - Richmond, Roanoke, parts of Arlington, and Fairfax County - it's pretty clear that Virginia has, for the first time in 44 years, voted for a Democrat for President.

And he does it without even getting the results from Virginia. CNN shows Obama with 194 EVs, MSNBC has … Continue reading An early night?

But there are large chunks of important areas still out - including most of the 3rd. In the House races: 2nd - with almost 24% of the vote counted, Nye … Continue reading Virginia update
Fox calls it for Kay Hagan
Fox News has just called the NC Senate race for Kay Hagan, a pretty significant upset here. I guess essentially calling someone an atheist just doesn't fly, even in the Bible Belt.
More poll closings
At 7:30pm, the polls closed in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. Coming up at 8pm will be 16 more states, representing 171 electoral votes. Four of those states favor McCain, a couple - Florida and Missouri - are considered toss ups, and the remaining 10 states all favor Obama. Expect some more calls in … Continue reading More poll closings

It's 7:00pm and the polls in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and VA have just closed. These six states represent 58 electoral votes, but all eyes are on Indiana and Virginia.
