Luzzatto named editorial page editor

With the retirement of Dennis Hartig, The Virginian Pilot today announced that editorial writer Don Luzzatto will be the new editorial page editor. He has some big shoes to fill.

Luzzatto, 46, has been at the newspaper since 2000 and an editorial writer for the past four years. Of course, he’s also a fellow member of the monthly editorial roundtable, which appears on WHRO’s What Matters.

Congratulations to Don! It will be interesting to watch and see how the editorial page changes under his leadership.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. This is a dark dark day for Virginia journalism. Any time someone with a name ending in a vowel takes something over, they mess it up. Damn Italians.

  2. Italians? But Dave, what if the new editorial-page editor had one of those preposterously long Scandinavian surnames, and Scandinavian long-windedness to match? Then we’d really have a problem.

  3. No we wouldn’t buddy. On this here internet, there’s plenty of room for longwindedness (see drift, bearing). The problem is Italians not Scandinavians.

    (Jim: kidding)
