Wednesday news

Been in meetings since 8:30am so I’m just getting caught up. Here are a few things that deserve a mention.

McAuliffe conference call

I participated in a blogger conference call with Terry McAuliffe this morning. Nothing new for me except that conservatives Jim Hoeft and Norm Leahy were also on the call. Hmm – ya think either one of these guys are going to be voting in the Democratic primary?

EV names new CEO

Equality Virginia has named Jon Blair the new CEO. For those who are familiar with Norfolk politics, Jon was the campaign manager for Senator Ralph Northam in 2007 and the field director for Del. Paula Miller in 2005. Most recently, he served as campaign manager for newly elected Congressman Martin Heinrich (D-NM). Jon is the first straight CEO of the organization.  Congrats to Jon!

Moran Inauguration Ticket Lottery

Brian Moran is holding a lottery for inauguration tickets.

This January 20th, America will make history.  We’ve all worked so hard for so long to make this a reality – if you’re like me, you can’t wait.  Barack Obama knew that what mattered most were the grassroots – everyday Americans building a better future for themselves and their kids.

Unfortunately, there won’t be nearly enough tickets to the inauguration for every Virginia volunteer and grassroots organizer to go. That’s why I’m going to give away inauguration tickets to dedicated Democratic leaders who sign up on our website. If you sign up today, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a ticket to President-elect Obama’s swearing in, and we’ll let you know the winners by January 16.

Head on over and sign up!

  1. God I really hope that Equality Virginia finally gets there act together. Maybe a straight guy will be able to not back down on all the gay issues.
