American Idol Results 04/15/09

Tuesday’s show was strange for me. Most of the performances, I thought, were subpar. Heading into the results show, I figured just about anyone (except Allison) could end up in the bottom three. The first contestant in the bottom three was — once again — Anoop. I think this kid has an awesome voice but … Continue reading »

Shad Planking quickie

I got videos of all three gubernatorial candidates in attendance. Once they get converted, I’ll post them. It was chilly but the rain managed to hold off for most of the event. I got the chance to speak briefly with a number of electeds and candidates, including Brian Moran, Bob McDonnell, Jon  Bowerbank, Jody Wagner, … Continue reading »

American Idol 04/14/09: music of the movies

Tuesday evening, American Idol’s top seven sang music from movies. The contestants were assisted by legendary director Quentin Tarantino. Because the show ran over last week, they changed the way the judges offered their comments. Instead of hearing from all four judges, each performer only heard from two. Kicking things off was 16-year old Allison, … Continue reading »

T-1 and counting

Or is that T-2? I get confused All I know is that tomorrow is the tax filing deadline (yeeha!) and I’m tired. Got a robo call last night inviting me to a Tea Party event tomorrow. Hmm – what should I do? Go to the Shad Planking or a Tea Party event? Decisions, decisions Of … Continue reading »

Norfolk officials not aware of assessment lag

Or so they say in this article, which appeared in Sunday’s Virginian-Pilot. Norfolk considered sales from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, for its most recent batch of reassessments. Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk used data from Jan. 1, 2008, through Dec. 31 – six months later than Norfolk. Virginia Beach cuts off sales the … Continue reading »

The Pulpit Speaks: April 8-14, 1961

An article written by my father, the Rev. C. Thomas Paige, as it appeared in the Tri-State Defender on the date shown. Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, He is not here. (Mark 16:6) Sir, if thou hath borne Him hence, tell me where thou hast laid Him and I will take Him away. (John 29:15) … Continue reading »

BREAKING: Edmonson out of delegates’ race

Word has just reached me that Pat Edmonson has also dropped out of the primary race for House of Delegates in the 82nd. More as it becomes available.

BREAKING: Edmonson files for House of Delegates

Word has reached me that Pat Edmonson, who has been running for LG, has filed to run in the 82nd House District. This will mean a primary in the 82nd since Peter Schmidt also filed this afternoon. The 82nd is currently represented by Republican Bob Purkey. More as it becomes available. UPDATE 04/11, 2:17pm: Just … Continue reading »

Friday afternoon: Something’s gotta give

Only as Ella can do it (the song starts at about the 2:25 mark) Something’s gotta give: either move the tax season filing deadline or move Easter. Right now, I’m not sure I care which one.

Moran news

The secret weapon I attended a Women for Moran event yesterday, with special guest Karyn Moran. (Yes, there were some guys there, too.) This was the first time I’ve heard her speak. I’m not easily impressed – but Karyn was awesome. She is a tremendous representative for Brian, with a command of the issues not … Continue reading »
