Breit out of Senate race

Jeffrey Breit, who had contemplated a run for Senate this fall, has withdrawn from consideration. The seat is currently occupied by Republican Ken Stolle, who is running for Sheriff in Virginia Beach.

Breit, 54, has four young children. It was his committment to family, as well as his law practice, that prompted him to withdraw.

Also interested in the seat, should it become available, is former senator Sonny Stallings. When I spoke with Stallings last week, he said it would be premature to campaign for the seat, and he anticipated Democrat John Bell will win the sheriff’s race.  Stallings previously held the seat in this Republican-leaning district.

On the Republican side are AmeriGroup Corp. founder Jeff McWaters and school board City Council member Rosemary Wilson.

About Vivian J. Paige

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  3. Oh, Come on Jeff, this is your great opportunity, you could have really made a difference in the lives of others. You should really reconsider this! Please!

  4. I suspect there’s less to this than meets the eye. It’s hard to get people interested in a special election candidate when there’s no special election, and this is just a little early to publicly start a 2011 Senate challenge. Let’s see where Jeff is this time next year, or in November should John Bell somehow lose. (He’s a really great candidate.)
