New Rasmussen poll: McDonnell 44%, Deeds 41%

Rasmussen has released a new Virginia gubernatorial poll today which shows Republican Bob McDonnell at 44% and Democrat Creigh Deeds at 41%.  The money quote:

The key to Deeds’ fortunes in November may prove to be how President Obama is viewed by voters in the state.

Um yeah. It’s called being a Virginia Democrat.

A former candidate, I've learned a lot about politics, both good and bad. I'd prefer more of the former and a lot less of the latter and I'm trying to do my part!

  1. Really? Well, let me tell you…..
I’m very disappointed in the initial part of Obama’s presidency. It is a giant rush towards socialism and he’s running us faster into bankruptcy than George Bush did. Frankly, I wasn’t sure that was even possible. I had hoped for some measure of fiscal sanity. But, hey, I loved Bush’s first term. It was the second term of Bush that screwed everything up. Perhaps, later I’ll see better things from our current President. I can only hope.

Given this I have a less than stellar opinion of Obama’s job in office up to this point. However, also at this point, I intend to vote for Creigh Deeds. Somebody needs to examine all the angles again. Glenn Nye knows what time it is.

If Creigh Deeds is percieved as his own man rather than a lap dog for Mark Warner or President Obama, then he’ll do just fine with people that don’t care for Obama. Nobody expect perfection from anybody. Expecting something above being a “water carrier” isn’t much to ask, however. So far, Warner tax sucking up aside, Deeds is looking ok.
