VP correction: Hester “mentored” Lynch

Perusing the corrections in today’s Virginian-Pilot, I ran across this gem:

Norfolk Vice Mayor Daun Hester said she did not recruit Kerry Lynch to run against council incumbent Paul Riddick and that a story (“Hester’s opposing endorsement agitates council”) in the March 9 Hampton Roads section erred in saying she admitted doing so.

The original story was the topic of an earlier post regarding Lynch being out of the race.

So how come it took the VP so long to make this correction?

  1. That was supposed to be “they”.

I think the main reason “they” didn’t make the correction sooner is because “they” just found out about it.

It’s another example of poor reporting.
