Apparently, there was a false email circulating around today that the council and school board elections in Virginia Beach had been postponed. This prompted the registrar to issue a statement this afternoon to the local media to deny the email.
Having been the victim of something similar (there was a phone call the morning of the election last November which said that I had removed myself from the race), I certainly hope an investigation is done and the perpetrators punished.
