A plainclothes Norfolk police officer, Seneca Darden, was shot by a fellow, as yet unidentified uniformed officer Sunday evening. The officer is now on administrative leave and the state police have been called in to investigate. The shooting took place amid chaos in Young Terrace.
Darden, 25, was a nephew of former interim police chief Shelton Darden. He was married with one child and was responding to a call for backup. The officer who shot him was unaware that Darden was a fellow officer.
No doubt two families are mourning tonight.
