In case you missed this morning’s Pilot:
U.S. Senate candidate Harris Miller will spend Saturday hunting for votes across Hampton Roads as his bid for the Democratic nomination in November’s general election heads into its final two weeks.
Miller, a Fairfax County businessman, is battling former Navy Secretary James Webb for the nomination in a June 13 primary. The winner will oppose incumbent Republican George Allen, who is seeking a second six-year term.
Miller is scheduled to attend a Democratic Party breakfast at 9 a.m. at Jason’s Deli on Virginia Beach Boulevard. He’ll canvass Portsmouth neighborhoods beginning at 10 and lunch with other visitors to the Pungo Strawberry Festival in Virginia Beach at noon.
His afternoon schedule includes the Southeastern Virginia Arts Association’s 23rd annual AFR’AM Festival at Norfolk’s Town Point Park beginning at 1:30, an annual Memorial Day party at the Norfolk home of Vivian Page at 3:45, and a block party at King and Queens Ways in Hampton beginning at 6.
So the Pilot still can’t spell my name but at least my little party made the paper. Webb will be sending a surrogate as he will not be in Hampton Roads this weekend.
