Fifty-two weeks ago was the eve of another primary, one in which I was a candidate. I recall the butterflies, the uncertainty. Had I done all that I could have done to win? Would the people choose me as the nominee or my opponent? Even though I was exhausted, it was a sleepless night.I couldn’t wait for the next 24 hours to be over.
I imagine that Harris Miller and Jim Webb are having similar thoughts tonight. And my thoughts and prayers are with both men. I salute them both for being willing to run for office, for wanting to represent us – me – in the US Senate. No matter what happens tomorrow, they are to be applauded for their efforts.
Go out and vote for the candidate of your choice. Encourage your family, friends, co-workers, associates – everybody – to do the same. I’ll be voting for Harris Miller, as I have previously said. And then I’ll be watching the returns.
Ben Tribett and I will be joining Jim Hoeft for a podcast after the polls close. One of us will be disappointed, no doubt. At the end of the day, though, we will have a Democratic nominee which I will support in his efforts to beat George Allen in November.
Ok Viv, I say Webb 68%, Miller 32%
What say you?
Will you pick a nickname and stick with it? 🙂
I say 51/49 Miller, the same I’ve been saying all along.
My prediction is 58% Webb, 42% Miller. Same as the Fairfax Straw Poll.
Ben is already calling it for Webb.
We’ll see. Good luck with the podcast tonight. I’m going to be Kickin’ at the Hilton with Webb and some special guests.
Today the butterflies, tonight the results, tomorrow a unified party turns all guns on George Allen.
You got that right! 🙂
