The primary turnout is much higher than I expected. Right now, with 2,202 out of 2,403 precincts reporting statewide, the turnout is almost 135,000.
And, as I suspected, a high turnout has helped Webb. If you haven’t seen the numbers, take a look here.
Here in Bristol, our turnout was 1.8%.
Yeah, I see that. Your turnout actually follows what I had expected: lower this year than last year’s primary.

I think we can all agree that ANYONE would be better than George Allen. If Harris Miller would have won, Miller’s victory party would have essentially doubled as an Allen victory part too.
I congratulate Virginia’s Democrats for nominating an electable candidate. Sometimes the paradigm has to be shifted, in order to win, and a chance – though slim – exist today. Regardless, Webb has an impressive resume, and I hope he works hard to gain the trust and support of African-American voters.
Collectively we will all benefit from the leadership and judgement of Jim Webb vs. the partisianship and vitriole of Allen…agree?
