I’m back!

06_25_06_2128.jpgI got in late last night. Had a great trip to Upper Michigan, near the Canadian border. I actually went into Canada for dinner Monday night. The most amazing thing about that part of the country? The length of the days. Sunset at 9:30 pm was pretty amazing.

  1. And you did not stay in God’s country because of why? Oh, I know, your dedication to the people of South Hampton Roads.

Tell you what, the next time I get back there, particularly PH Hoeft State Park in Rogers City, MI, I will have a very difficult time coming back to shangrila in southern Chesapeake.

  2. I didn’t stay for a couple of reasons. First, I hate cold weather 🙂 which is why I made this trip in June instead of January, when it was originally planned. Second, while I absolutely loved the long days, I couldn’t imagine the short winter days. I’m told that in the winter, the sun rises around 9:30 am and sets around 4:30 pm. Not enough sunlight for me.

But it was beautiful and I’ll definitely be going back. Perhaps my next trip won’t be three solid days of working 😦

  3. Did you make to Mackinaw Island? The Grand should be perking up about now.

I’ve decided to leave DC for a few days in VA Beach staring at the eastern horizon and listening to waves. Not quite the same, but relaxing nonetheless.

  4. I was very close to Mackinaw Island but didn’t get there. I actually stayed in Sault Ste. Marie.

Assuming the rain stays away, the beach should be great right now. Heck, even if it rains, the beach should be great right now 🙂 (I love the beach in the rain)
