The latest step in the saga of the Bay Oaks Park petition was mentioned in Wednesday’s Pilot. As promised, an appeal has been filed with the Virginia Supreme Court, which is not expected to decide on whether to hear the case until late summer or early fall. I found this part interesting:
He [attorney for the Bay Oaks Park Committee Andrew M. Sacks] noted that city officials are legally obligated to help groups attempting to circulate petitions and that city officials did not notify the Bay Oaks group of any error in the petitions until it was too late.
In a city where referendum is, by design, virtually impossible, I am surprised that they offered any help at all.
I agree with what you wrote, but I do have a problem. I find it tough to give a whole lot of sympathy to Norfolk when every incumbent was re-elected.
I hear you.
