Interesting that the Washington Post has an article up today speculating on which Democrats may be running for governor in 2009. I had actually planned to do a writeup as a part of the Weekend Without Echos – and I still might, since the Post is a little light on analysis π One of those mentioned is Brian Moran:
With more than three years until the election, Moran is much more visible than Deeds. As chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, he is traveling across the state, helping to recruit candidates and raising his profile in places that don’t know him well. In recent days, he’s been in Tysons Corner, Norfolk and Upperville.
Moran spent the 4th of July in Hampton Roads, starting his day with Del. Lionell Spruill, where he participated in the 4th of July parade in Chesapeake.
Afterwards, he joined Governor Tim Kaine, Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Jack Doyle and others to campaign for Phil Kellam at the 4th of July Picnic in Norfolk.
Moran, Kaine and Congressman Bobby Scott campaigned with Kellam in Hampton, where they met up with Delegate Jeion Ward. The day ended in Virginia Beach at Mt. Trashmore.
(Just one question: was there a memo out on the uniform of the day? Three guys all wearing tan pants and blue shirts just can’t be a coincidence π )
I’m glad to see Chairman Moran in our area. Hampton Roads will be a strategic area for 2009, especially if there is a primary (which I hope there will not be).
