God in goverment “a clear and present danger”

The above is the title of an article written by one of my favorite writers at the Virginian Pilot, Betsy Wright Rhodes. It is the first of a four-part series planned about “Mixing God and Government in America.”

For those who may be unfamiliar, Rhodes writes a weekly religious column. Hers is a column that I look forward to each week, as it always puts religion and religious beliefs into perspective. She is deeply religious and shares her faith through the lens of her own life as well as from the standpoint of a religious scholar. I have admired her biblical-based stands, even when I disagree with them (which, I admit, isn’t often).

I wish the Pilot included her work in the PilotOnline edition. She has written some wonderful columns on the topics of the day over the years, ones that I can only find thru searching the ePilot archives (a horrible experience, by the way). I expect this series will be no different.
