Norfolk Ford Plant to be idle for 4 weeks

Likely due to lackluster sales of the F-150, the Norfolk Ford plant will be shut down for one week in August and three weeks in September.

Sales of the F-Series fell 8.5 percent in the second quarter, putting sales in the first half of the year at 400,177, down 1.9 percent from a year ago.

The workers just returned from the annual two-week shut down that ended up being three weeks. During the time that the plant is idle, workers are eligible for unemployment plus company subsidies, which result in them getting about 95% of their regular pay.
