Not everybody posted during the weekend. But there are some great posts out there. And in the process, I discovered some blogs that I would have never come across otherwise. Thanks to Terry for thinking up this idea and thanks to everybody who participated. I had great plans on topics I wanted to write about but life has a way of getting in the way. Oh well. I’ll have to just write about that stuff later.
Yeah, me too Vivian. I was going to take the time to write an original essay, but didn’t have the time to give.
On the other hand, I did help to create a new and interesting project that I will be announcing very publicly soon, so stay tuned…!
I don’t know if you have listened to it, but I mentioned the WWE and your site specifically in my radio interview.
Sean – I haven’t listened to the radio interview yet but I will – especially now that I know I’m in it 😆
I think it might be an interesting idea to have a WWE once a month (or another period of time). Perhaps it wouldn’t have to be for and entire weekend (which might discourage some people from joining), but if a blogger had an orginial story they could release it during the event.
Sorry, Viv, still think it’s a silly idea. I had original material and posted on the news of the day. That’s why we’re here.
I don’t know about once a month but I do like the idea of shortening the time frame. Perhaps we can do just one day.
And yes, Jim, I know you think it’s silly but that’s OK. I think we had some people out there writing original posts who had never tried to do that before. And if it cut down on the noise for a few days, then it was worth it. 😉
Vivian,
Yes, I know what you mean. I didn’t do all of what I had in mind, either. But I did get some of it done. Deadlines always help me.
The event itself, such as it was, had its effect, in that it inspired some debate and may have spawned a few bright ideas. It also served to sharpen some of us on what we think, and why.
Now we’ll see what flows from it. I hardly expected it would change the blogging habits of anybody overnight. Hopefully, however, it will add a new spice to the soup that is the blogosphere.
Thanks again for all you did for the Weekend Without Echoes.
Vivian:
Thanks for the challenge and thanks for the referals (my sitemeter picked up a number of referals from this site).
As I commented at Slantblog, as of Tuesday morning my intended Sunday post is still in draft form. I’ll save it for another day and get back to my regular stuff.
Stephen
Terry – I have enough deadlines in my real job that I just can’t take on any more. But it was fun to try.
Stephen – I really enjoy your site. Yours was one in particular that I’m not sure that I would have found otherwise. WWE was a success in my mind just because it exposed me to sites like yours. (Part of the reason that I couldn’t get my writing done – too busy surfing around reading what everybody else was writing.)
