I am very sorry to inform you that Jerry passed away very suddenly yesterday at home. Details are very few at this time. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. As we receive additional information we will keep you informed. While our collective condolences and prayers go out to the Griffin family, please keep the Griffin family in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

UPDATE: Funeral services will likely be Sunday, Aug. 6.

Jerry Griffin was a very active member of the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee and a contributor to the VB Dems blog. I first met Jerry at my Memorial Day party which he attended with his wife and son. He was extremely passionate in his support of the party. Take a look around the VB Dems blog and you will see what I mean. He earned the respect of people on both sides of the aisle in the Hampton Roads community.

Efforts are underway to start a scholarship fund for his son.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Griffin family.
