New wedding registration: with the town!

There are all kinds of registries when folks get married, mostly surrounding the gifts you want folks to get for you, for example your china pattern, your crystal pattern and your silver pattern. Some people register with Home Depot or Lowes, hoping for some things they can really use šŸ™‚

But who would have thought that they had to register with the town?

Beginning in January, couples who say “I do” in front of 50 people or more at private homes in Duck will need to register with the town. That goes for other nuptial events too, such as receptions, parties and rehearsal dinners.

Couples must register at least 30 days in advance and provide a contact name and number.

Wow. I guess those weddings are getting out of hand! But what about other large gatherings?

[Duck] decided against a blanket registration requirement because there haven’t been problems with other large gatherings, such as family reunions.

So it’s just the weddings that cause the problems. Interesting. Maybe they should just ban weddings šŸ˜†

Alas, his new “policy” comes with no teeth:

There is no cost, and those who do not register cannot be fined at this point.

Wonder how many registrations they are going to get? šŸ˜†
