Reuters and Zogby teamed up for a series of telephone polls conducted 9/25 to 10/2. At least 500 likely voters were included in each poll. The polls covered 15 Republican-held house seats, and show Democrats leading in 11 of them. The margin of error is 4.5%.
From the Reuters release linked above (emphasis mine):
Other Republican incumbents who trailed were Rep. Christopher Shays of Connecticut, behind Democrat Dianne Farrell 46 percent to 41 percent; Rep. Thelma Drake of Virginia, who trailed Democrat Phil Kellam 46 percent to 42 percent; and Rep. Jim Gerlach of Pennsylvania, behind Democrat Lois Murphy 43 percent to 41 percent.
No doubt this race is close, with the results within the margin of error. (And no, I’m NOT paying $199 for access to the crosstabs! Anybody with access, feel free to email me 🙂 )
And for the Redksins fans among us, Zobgy’s release has this to say:
The situation is much the same in the mountains of western North Carolina, where Republican-leaning voters in the 11th District give Democratic challenger Heath Shuler a 51% to 40% edge over eight-term incumbent Charles Taylor.
Looks like Heath is better at running for office than running an offense 😆
UPDATE: Bearing Drift has a copy of a poll from the Drake campaign showing that she is up 47% to 36.7%, with 16.3% undecided. The poll was of 300 likely voters and has a margin of error of +/-5.6%. Like the prior one, I think the sample is too small and the MOE too large. Another telling stat in this poll: Bush approval is 49%.

Gee!!! Guess she’d better get on the horn and call her buddies Dick and Laura to come back down to another one of her p-r-i-v-a-t-e funraisers so she can produce more negative ads…
Buzz…Buzz
Buzzy, for you to complain about negative ads after the months of negative ads attacking Drake is pathetically laughable.
Viv, methinks these polls must have different “likely voter” models. What do you think?
That’s about the only thing that makes sense. But without the crosstabs, you can’t be sure.
