Tonight, the last of the three scheduled debates between incumbent Republican Senator George Allen and Democratic challenger Jim Webb will be broadcast live at 8pm. In Hampton Roads, the debate will be shown on WTKR Channel 3, WAVY Channel 10, WVEC Channel 13, WHRO Channel 15 and CSPAN (check local listings). The debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and will be broadcast from the studios of WCVE-TV, Richmond’s Public Broadcasting Service outlet.
The debate will be moderated by CBS Sunday Evening News anchor Russ Mitchell, who, along with a three-member panel, will ask the candidates questions. Interestingly, the candidates will be asking each other questions as well.
The first debate was held at a private venue. The second was broadcast on CSPAN, during the day. As the result, this final debate is the first that will have such a broad audience. Kudos to all of the stations who have chosen to carry this debate.
