Reuters/Zogby: Drake 51%, Kellam 43%

The latest Reuters/Zogby poll for the 2nd Congressional district shows Republican incumbent Thelma Drake leading Democratic challenger Phil Kellam 51% to 43%. This poll was conducted October 24-29 and included live surveys of 500 likely voters. The margin of error is +/- 4.5%.

This race has been a seesaw one for some time now and none of the polls match the others. Obviously, the race is very tight and the result may turn on GOTV.

  1. I am convinced that these polls mean nothing. Any news on the break down of who was surveyed? If 50% of the respondents came from the Shore or Hampton that could throw off the poll, since Thelma has heavy leads there.

My prediction is that neither Thelma nor Phil has a huge lead. I would say that about 5% are undecided (or saying they are) and these voters will go 3-2 to Phil because people are outraged with Iraq.

Has anyone noticed the Thelma TV ad that attacks Phil for negative ads, but her ads are more negative. My wife and I talked about one this morning in which she calls Phil a “liar.” That is the nastiest ad running right now. I think these are the type of ads that swing voters the other way.
