It’s always interesting to see how folks find my blog. First, a couple of funny ones:
- why is geore allen running for senate
- chief homophobe virginia
- how to make a fake virginia inspection stickers
But most of the searches are serious ones:
- voting polls virginia beach
- virginia ballot issues
- Thelma Drake’s views on the marriage amendment
- jim webb on the marriage amendment
- Webb v allen
- phil kellam marriage amendment
- drake-kellam election poll
- reasons to vote for Thelma Drake
- James Webb Senate
- kellam and immigration virginia
- VOTING ISSUES IN 2006 IN VIRGINIA
The number of searches (with variations of the above) are indicative to me that people want to be informed about the election and are actively seeking such information. I think that’s a good thing.
An informed electorate is the best thing we can have.
Thanks for visiting. Hope you’ll come again.
I Google “Classiest Blogger in Hampton Roads” and it takes me here
The most frequent search term I get is marshall newman amendment, or some variation of that (usually a hyphen or slash between marshall and newman). I’m not surprised at all to see that some of your more popular search terms also relate in one form or another to the amendment. In my opinion, after all, you were one of the most informative bloggers on the topic. Furthermore, I’d like to believe that many conservative bloggers realized that you did allow opposing opinions to be posted in response to your articles, which allowed for some great debates.
Another note, your blog was one of the first ones I began avidly reading when I became involved in Virginia’s blogosphere. I came across it via Waldo’s vapoliticalblogs site.
Porn stars. We’re all about the porn stars.
Actually, our top hit recently has been “What does a congressman do?” referring to a competition held by the Sunlight Foundation or something…
The answer is “Pages.”
Squeaky – thanks π Bryan – yes, a lot of my searches were about the amendment. My most popular search? My name π
Melissa – porn stars? That’s not one I get here π
I found you a couple of months ago listed on Not Larry Sabato. Quickly dumped that one as a regular read, but I’m a big fan of yours. I grew up in Va Beach, so it’s nice seeing local political news from that area. I’m in Fauquier County now.
Call this the fan letter I never got around to writing. Keep up the good work!
I get it… Congress.. Page.. Paige.. Get it?
Oh, I did get a lot of hits off of the Congressional page thing. What was funny was that I would see it spelled with an “i.”
I got here through V’s comments on one of my own postings. I followed her link and then stuck around for a few reasons:
1) I’m trying to get a better feel for VA politics. Honestly, being an Arlington resident (who spends most of his waking hours in DC) entirely sick of the shite that comes out of Richmond, I have a very low opinion of our state legislators. In fact, I’m only half joking when I talk about secession. That said, I’m from Georgia. I know that it’s entirely possible for a southern rural state to come to terms with its cities. I just wish to god these jokers in Richmond had the first clue as to how to do that.
2) I got sucked in by the troll named Jack. Hey, we’re all human.
3) Vivian impresses me greatly. I’ve been on the Internets well before most of you ever got your first AOL disk in your mailbox, and I know what makes a good forum host. Vivian’s got that, in spades.
MB – I see that you are listed in Lefty Blogs now. Be sure to submit your site to Va Political Blogs. You’ve got some good stuff there. (I can’t display Lefty Blogs here on my site since no javascript is allowed and they don’t have an RSS feed.)
ChickenLady – welcome!
