Gary Byler, a GOP activist, and I were invited to appear on Joel Rubin’s On the Record, which airs this Sunday. Somehow, the wires got crossed and Congressman Bobby Scott (D-3rd) was there. Gary & I offered to yield to Congressman Scott – after all, he’s now the region’s most influential Congressman – but Joel insisted that we all appear.
I had the most fun while we were just sitting at the table, shooting the breeze, before the taping started. We were just discussing House minority whip Steny Hoyer when Scott’s cell phone rang. On the other end? Hoyer’s office š
The Dems in the house will be caucusing early next week – including the newly elected members – to choose the leadership for the 110th Congress. It will be interesting to watch how this plays out.
As for the show – well, I guess you will have to watch on Sunday š In the second segment, Franklin Mayor Jim Council will speak about the latest tragedy to hit his star-crossed city, the deaths of three boy scouts and their troop leader in a one-vehicle accident.
On the Record airs at 10:30 am on WVEC, channel 13.
Wow. Sounds like a very exciting show. You really need a foil, Vivian. Someone who can go toe-to-toe with you and just get into a knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred donnybrook. I nominate Insider.
Ah, but then Insider would have to reveal himself š
Good show, did not previously know the republican guy (and already have forgotten his name, dang!), but I liked him for what he was. You didn’t get much opinion time, which is a shame. Were you and Bobby Scott both wearing the same pin in your lapels? They looked similar – what were they?
I’ll try to get the video up later today for those who may have missed it. It’s hard to get in the talk time with all the guests.
As for the pins – no, they aren’t the same. Mine is a Kaine pin (that I convinced House minority leader Frank Hall to give to me). Scott’s is a Congressional pin (and he won’t give it to me š¦ )
I will when Joel Rubin does.
That makes no sense. We all know who Rubin is.
A liberal democrat?
Maybe, maybe not. At least he has the guts to use his name.
Maybe, maybe not? That’s like wondering if Sabato likes George Allen.
