WP Contest: what to do with 10GB

One of the recent updates to WordPress is the ability to purchase additional space – as much as 10GB. In kicking off this new service, WP is holding a contest, with the prize being 10 GB of upload space. The key is what to do with that much space.

Currently, WordPress offers 50MB of free upload space. They recently added a little meter to let you know how much of that space you have used. Most of my uploads are photos, but occasionally I do upload other types of files. I’ve only used 36% of my allotted space.

So what would I do with 10GB of space? Well, for one, I’d love WP to allow the uploading of MP3 files. With that ability, it would be much easier to have podcasts here on WP. One of the reasons I haven’t done many podcasts is the difficulty of dealing with uploading the files to other locations. I definitely would do more if I had the ability to upload those files here.

The other use I can see for the additional space is higher quality photos. The photos I upload here are usually web-quality. I run them thru photo editing software to optimize them for the web before posting. However, the picture quality tends to suffer when I do this.

Occasionally, I need to upload a PDF file, but that is not allowed here. I would like to see that file type allowed here as well.

OK – so probably not the most creative use of 10GB but it’s my entry and I’m sticking to it šŸ˜‰
