..don’t they win every year? LOL, I remember they beat the Hanover county Patrick Henry HS a few years ago in the state championship…and I think I heard that they had won one more time since..
Was at the game and it was quite exciting. Both the double overtime thriller in Dumfries (which I also attended) and the title game were great efforts from a Phantom team that never got down when challanged.
Congrats to Bill Dee, his coaching staff and the players for their 3rd title in 6 years.
By the way, how many has Hampton? tee hee!
Well, I was at Phoebus the year the school opened. We didn’t even play varsity sports that year. So no football championships in the two years I was there. (I think we did win the girls’ state basketball championship, though.)
By the way – I also attended Phoebus Elementary School. There were a few of us who did all 6 years at Phoebus Elementary, all three years at Spratley Jr Hi, and then went to Phoebus HIgh. (I only did 2 years at PHS, because I left after my jr year and went to college.)
Being at the school when it opened had its perks. We got to pick the school colors (same as the elementary school – blue & gold), the nickname, and a friend of mine designed the Phantom logo 😉
