Webb: Bush “a failed president”

Senator-elect Jim Webb was interviewed by the Daily Press this afternoon. Among his remarks were the comment that Bush is “a failed president.” The brief article points out that Webb is willing to work with the president, although he is leery of increasing the number of troops in Iraq.

  1. “Bush is a failed President.”

“I’m willing to work with the President.”

One of these thigns is not like the other. Work with the President? Middle-schooler Jim Webb can’t even TALK to the President.

  2. Hey Ward Smythe — Webb can talk to the President. Just tell the President to drop his fake bonhomie and his aw shucks crap and come to the table with something of substance. Webb’s not going to be one of Bush’s good ole boys.

  3. If voting for Webb DOES NOTHING ELSE but put someone knowledgeable in Washington to “be leery of” increasing the troops in Iraq, then it is still the most important vote I have ever made in my life.

Mr. Webb, thank you for being leery. Lots of us sent you to Washington to be leery.

  4. Right on Mamiska.

I’m sure if the Bush administration has a strong case for the troop increase, they can persuade Webb. If they don’t have a strong case, then they shouldn’t be considering troop increases.
