Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore is setting up an exploratory committee for a run for the Republican nomination for president, saying that “A void exists,” in that none of the candidates are conservatives. Why do I suspect that this will be a short-lived campaign?
The Virginian-Pilot editorial today weighs in on the $600,000 overpayment made to a former vendor by the City of Virginia Beach. They are not buying the explanation. “Human error is a mistake that happens once, or maybe twice. It takes a machine to make the same mistake over and over again – at $60,000 each time – for months.”
Newport News native Allen Iverson has been traded by the Philadelphia 76ers to the Denver Nuggets. I’m surprised Iverson lasted this long with the 76ers. The Nuggets, of course, have their own problems. Their star player, Carmelo Anthony, has been suspended for 15 games due to his participation in a brawl.
Funniest story I’ve read recently has got to be this one from 7 West. My favorite on Delegate Bob Brink’s list has to be #5: “Check out the congestion on I-64, and wonder aloud why nobody’s done anything about it.” Yep 😆
Speaking of funny – this guy goes into a meeting, expecting to be fired, and comes out with a raise! If Insider were still around, I bet he’d be all over this. Of course, SPSA Director John Hadfiel’s raise is contingent upon him making some serious cuts, which may cost 100 other employees their jobs.
Thanks to C-Ville Weekly for letting all of us know what a crazy man Congressman Virgil Goode is. How the heck did this guy try to tie together a duly-elected American Congressman and illegal immigration? Better yet, why do those in his district keep electing him?
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district in NC has banned a picture book on the true story of two male penguins that raise an adopted hatchling together. Does banning the book mean that it didn’t happen? At least the superintendent recognizes that procedure wasn’t followed: the book got banned even though no formal complaints were made.
“A void exists” if Jim Gilmore runs for President. Surely, he wouldn’t even think his record as governor qualifies him, would he??? All he needs now is George Allen as his VP! What a team!!!
Obviously, that’s not practical, as those who vote vote President and Vice President cannot cast those votes for two people from the same State.
This seems to say that it can happen.
It can certainly happen, but the electors from Virginia would not be able to vote for both Allen and Gilmore. (Allen could, of course, opt to move back to California, just as Cheney moved back to Montana.)
