You’ll notice that my post on the Episcopal Church split has been at the top of the most viewed posts for a while as well as in the top 10 over the last few days. In case you missed it, there was an op-ed in the Washington Post yesterday on why the churches left. I’m not Episcopalian, so much of the argument presented by writers Rev. John Yates and Os Guinness was Greek to me but the comments were interesting.
Also, if you haven’t kept up with the comments on my original post, take a good look at the one posted by Claire Gastanaga yesterday. She makes some interesting points.
One wonders what the Democrats in Petersen’s district think of his position and votes on equality issues that Ms. Gastanaga’s blog entry cites. Am I mistaken, or is this the elephant in the room that the Dems don’t want to talk about? I’m glad that the discussion has now been focused on his voting record (versus Truro Church) which doesn’t appear to be main stream Northern Virginia Democrat … live and let live!
I’m a Democrat and former Episcopalian but don’t like what I’m reading about his votes or his church.
