The Daily Press has an article today on blogs and blogging. While the article itself is pretty good, I have a problem with a local paper not mentioning at least one Hampton Roads blog. Readers of the Daily Press deserve to know that there is a vibrant blogosphere in their backyards.
I also have to wonder why the writer mentioned AG Bob McDonnell’s blogger conference call and LG Bill Bolling’s upcoming Bloggers Day but made no mention of Governor Tim Kaine’s blogger conference call or that of the DPVA. Perhaps the writer is unfamiliar with the goings on of the blogosphere.
I just think Daily Press readers deserve better.
I think the lesson is simple Vivian. When people like DPVA do a partisan blogger call (and Tim Kaine’s was pretty much Dems as well) it isn’t going to be noticed like the bipartisan call McDonnell did or the bipartisan bloggers day Bolling is doing.
It isn’t newsworthy for a politician or organization to communicate with supporters.
Plus, also in their defense, the story was about whether blogs would influence the legislative session. I haven’t seen any of the Hampton Roads blogs do that (yet) so what were they supposed to say?
Well, it is my understanding that Bolling’s Blogger’s Day was designed to be Republican.
And none of the blogs mentioned influence the legislative session, so what’s your point?
Oh – and I understand the Governor’s conference call invited bloggers from both sides.
Further, I don’t see how you can call the AG’s conference call “bipartisan” based on this list of participants.
Hmm, well judging by this, you may not want local media to start talking about you, haha,
Bob has hardly been partisan- he did a live blog with you. There’s no reason to smear him from a participant list- why not just ask him who was invited- that’s more important than who chose to participate.
