2-0

BearsColtsThe Super Bowl is set between my picks for the conference champions, the AFC Indianapolis Colts and the NFC Chicago Bears.

The Colts win was record-setting, with them having come back from an 18-point deficit. Peyton Manning and the team made the adjustments at half-time that I hoped they would. They ended up scoring 30+ points in the second half. Coach Tony Dungy becomes the 6th person to both play in and coach a Super Bowl. Trivia: can you name the previous five?

The Bears game was less exciting, with a 39-14 win over New Orleans.

I’ll make my Super Bowl pick later 😉

  1. I’ve been humbled. I picked New England and New Orleans (I’m a lifelong Pats fan).

I actually want Indy to win so everyone can just shut up about Peyton Manning.

Though Urlacher is from New Mexico, where I was born . . . so I’m torn.

I’m just going to wait for Vivian to make her pick, the jump on the bandwagon.

  2. Dan Reeves (Dallas and Denver/Atlanta)
    Mike Ditka (Dallas and Chicago)
Raymond Berry (Baltimore and New England)
    Sam Wyche (Washington and Cicny)
    Tom Flores (KC and Okland)

I think thats right, is it?

  3. MC – I’ll have to check the answers but that sounds right. As for yesterday’s picks – well, I can’t believe you thought the Saints could beat the Bears in Chicago! The AFC game was a tougher call, no doubt, and could have gone either way. My pick of the Colts was as much a hope that Peyton could pull it out as it was anything. The two teams were quite evenly matched.

  4. Congrats to you Ms. Paige. You had faith in the Colts, I sure as heck didn’t. That was a fantastic game. Any early thoughts on the Super Bowl?

  5. Vivian,

The only one I’m not sure about is Raymond Berry. I know he coached New England, and he SHOULD have been with the Colts in Super Bowl III and/or V

  6. Happy Feet – when is your office pool due? I was thinking I wouldn’t release my pick for another week or so, since the game is two weeks away.
