I predicted a Colts victory, although I didn’t expect the margin of victory to be so large. The Bears just couldn’t get it going on offense and the Colts defense stiffened. Too much time on the field for the Bears defense.
Congrats to the Colts! And I voted for Peyton Manning for MVP. (nfl.com had the voting, with fans contributing 20% to the choice) The two running backs also did a great job. If there was a way to do a co-MVP, I would have picked those two.
Another good pick! Agreed congrats to the Colts, Dungy, and Manning.
I didn’t have a dog in this fight, but it was frustrating to watch Grossman’s performance. If Griese had been the play caller, I don’t know if the Bears would have won, but the score likely would have been much closer. Griese is the type of savvy veteran who can manage an offense without turning the ball over. He won’t win the games single-handledly, but he won’t make the type of mistakes that teams can ill-afford in the post-season. Grossman’s turnovers were just a killer. Unfortunately, that was his M.O. coming into the Super Bowl. I’m sure there is going to be a lot of pressure in Chicago, and inside the locker room to replace Grossman in the offseason.
Grossman just didn’t get it done, no doubt. But I don’t know if Griese is the answer, either.
