Part of me is shocked, part of me isn’t. How terribly distressing. How can children this young have developed these concepts already? Are they learning them at home? Friends? Daycare/school? TV? All of the above?
What to do…
My first reaction is WOW! Like Pam I wonder where the children are learning this stuff.
I would be interested to know if children in other countries have the same preferences.
I don’t have any answers. I found the video distressing as well. How much of the personal image comes from what is on TV?
Well, that was what the director was saying. We have to ask the questions and continue to study the root causes here.
The test is shocking, but finding out the reasons are just as important. And jumping to conclusions is wrong. The reality is that our hypothesis for why might be colored by our own experiences.
But then again, Occam’s Razor is generally applicable.
