ODU Alumni GA Reception

Old ODU logoEach year, the Old Dominion University Alumni Association, of which I am a member, hosts a General Assembly reception. Last year, the event recognized former U.S. Rep. G. William Whitehurst. It was great fun and was well-attended by many members of the GA, not just those from Hampton Roads. This year, the event will recognize the ODU Alumni in the General Assembly.

I’ll be heading to Richmond this afternoon to attend the reception.

(This is the old ODU logo, by the way. I much prefer this one over the one that looks like the Food Lion lion )

  1. Viv,
That old logo is dreadful. The new one is much better.

Hmm…I suppose I ought to actually read the Alumni Association correspondence. I might have gone to this event. But I know how the association is dominated by those of you on the left…and all the association wants is money anyway. So, I probably would not have had a good time.

Besides, I’m still a poor graduate student.

  2. Take a look at my report. There were probably more Rs there than Ds, especially among the alumni themselves (not naming names for the non-electeds in attendence). And this is purely a social event – no one asks for money.

And you aren’t old enough to appreciate the old logo 😉 It evolved from the ODC logo when university status was obtained. And there was a tremendous uproar at the time it was changed to the Food Lion lion.

  3. How much did the event itself cost? I bet at least $100.

That old logo had 1970’s written all over it. At least now we have a real lion or are only using the crown in the new logos.

I think the “Food Lion” logo went away too since Dr. Runte arrived. I haven’t seen it for awhile.
