The Virginian-Pilot today has a fun article on State Senator Louise Lucas (D-18th) and her penchant for stunning outfits. I have to say that I can usually spot Senator Lucas from a distance: she’s always dressed to the nines in colors that are eye-catching, colors I wish I had the guts to wear. Of course, I don’t have her wardrobe budget, either.
She never wears the same thing twice in a year. Really.
[…]
Every closet in Lucas’ three-level Portsmouth house is packed with skirts, suits, slacks, coats, purses, blouses and church hats. She keeps her jewelry in black velvet boxes in two dressers, and in her double-car garage are some 300 pairs of shoes, color-coded in clear boxes.
You go, girl! (Photos from The Virginian-Pilot. Click to enlarge)
Priorities. Hmmm
Dress not for the job you have now but the job you will have.
Good for her!!! I’ve known Ms. Lucas for a long time. Her son Jeff and I have gone through many a door together getting bad guys off the street. Ms. Lucas has always been as pleasant and polite as she was well dressed. I am glad to see a good light hearted article about this way cool lady and friend.
Well, I’m not so much questioning priorities as judgment. A house and garage full of clothes, and she went out in public in #2?!? #4 makes up for it somewhat, but . . .
(That is my substantive contribution to the Internets for the day, yes.)
I like Senator Lucas and enjoy her company, and I also know this story wasn’t her idea. But as far as journalism and the important issues of the day . . . . this one gives me pause. I am squirming in my seat with excitement waiting for the next two parts of this series — Delegate Ken Melvin’s necktie collection and Delegate Johnny Joannou’s favorite hair care products.
