So says the Virginian-Pilot:
Starting at 2 this morning, local NBC affiliate WAVY appears in high-definition on Cox channel 710 and local Fox affiliate WVBT appears in high-definition on channel 714.
OK, so now I’m getting more than a little upset with DirecTV. They promised more HD channels over a year ago (as part of the justification for a rate increase) and they still aren’t here. According to the article:
DirecTV’s HD customers in Hampton Roads will receive those channels as they roll out, sometime after the company launches a new satellite later this year, said Robert Mercer, a DirecTV spokesman.
Those subscribers also will eventually receive the local network affiliates in high-definition – likely those of ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, Mercer said. No timetable has been set.
Kinda reminds me of the roll out of local channels on DirecTV. Took them way too long. If it weren’t for NFL Sunday Ticket…
Vivian…the awful Rupert Murdoch owns Direct TV….Check out Dishnet TV….they are better and have two wonderful progressive channels FSTV and LINK TV…..
I know they have some HD channels…but since I don’t have HD it’s not of interest yet…so I cant fill you in on the hd part….but LinkTV AND FSTV are only available via Dish (and al jazeera also has a dish channel)
I believe Rupert Murdoch does carry the FSTV channel…but not Linktv
Only DirecTV carries NFL Sunday Ticket. That’s why I have the service, really. I went for 2+ years without local channels because of it.
As much as I hate Cox, I’d go to them before Dish. Too many horror stories for me.
