Just got word that Robert Rummells, who just yesterday announced his candidacy for the seat “being vacated by retiring Del. Leo Wardrup,” is dropping out of the race. The reason cited is that his mother has cancer.
My best wishes to his mother for a speedy recovery.
I guess we are still waiting on Leo. I’ll update when I have more information.

I spoke with Robert Rummells on the phone this morning. It’s pancreatic cancer, and she’s been scheduled for emergency surgery.
Robert felt that he couldn’t run a credible campaign if he was in Alabama (with his mother) much of May. I agreed.
Not only does my heart go out for his mother, but for Robert. He’s patiently waited for Leo’s retirement, only to be dealt this bad luck. He would have made an excellent Delegate.
