Leo watch: will he or won’t he?

Retire, that is. Even though two Republican challengers have filed to run in the 83rd, no word yet on the retirement of incumbent Leo Wardrup.

My guess is that Wardrup may wait until the last minute to announce his retirement. The filing deadline for candidates is quickly approaching. (5pm next Friday, April 13). My guess is that’s why the two challengers have gone ahead and filed some of their paperwork. I hear Rummells already has his signatures.

So the Leo watch continues. Will it be a three-way Republican primary?

  1. Why in the world is he waiting? Others filed and you know they wouldn’t unless he said he was retiring.
Maybe he is waiting to pick someone to endorse… Maybe he is just aiting because St. Leo does what ever the hell he wants. WHo know s πŸ™‚

  2. The more the merrier. If Saint Leo stays in and gets beat up in the process, who are we to complain? A GOP primary is good for Bouchard, who remains unchallenged for the Dem nominaton. Let them spend money and sling mud while we get ready for the real thing.

  3. Leo’s office has also been saying for a while that his re-election announcement would be forthcoming shortly (although that dropped off a couple weeks ago).

  4. Rummells sent out a news release this afternoon saying he was getting out of the race because his mother has been diagnosed with cancer.

    No more Robert . . .

  5. There is no way that Carolyn would file her paperwork to run if she did not have first hand knowledge that Leo would not run. As a matter of fact I truly believe that Leo has encouraged Carolyn to run.
